7. A somber farewell to Prince Philip.
Queen Elizabeth II stated goodbye to her husband of greater than 73 years, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, at his funeral on Saturday at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Fortress. The Rev. David Conner, the dean of Windsor, famous Philip’s lifetime of service and “his unwavering loyalty to our queen.”
The ceremony was a subdued affair, with solely 30 royal relations in attendance. All eyes have been on Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, searching for a slight easing within the household rift; the 2 walked out of the chapel collectively. See the funeral in images.
Philip’s coffin, transported in a Land Rover Defender, custom-made to his specs, was lowered into the vault beneath the chapel. The funeral marked a poignant gown rehearsal for the much more consequential passing of the queen. She turns 95 on Wednesday.
